Code of Conduct and Behavior
Fair and open conduct at all times
Both the Local Government Act and a Local Government’s Code of Conduct ensure that councillors behave fairly and openly at all times.
This code must be reviewed within six months of each general election and applies to all councillors and special committee members. It must include:
- Rules of Conduct as set out in the Local Government Act;
- Procedures to be followed for disclosure and conflict of interests;
- Processes to resolve disputes between councillors;
- Caretaker procedures that will apply during an election period.
